I am Tuukka Kingelin, 31 years young Helsinki based industrial designer and entrepreneur. I've worked with several corporations, start-ups and growth companies. I also ran My own loudspeaker brand Uploud Audio for a few years. I've always follwed by passions during My career, be it high end audio or innovative gardening solutions. Most recent adventures took Me into the high-volume contract furniture business in Coolsome Ltd. My work experience also covers designing spaces, graphics, packages and services. Being a former company founder, I don't shy away from hands on branding, marketing and sales either.
My style as a designer aims towards minimal yet meaningful forms. I don't consider design as mere styling or decorative layer. I much rather derive the visual elements from usability, structural elements, semiotic references or social connotations. Instead of re-designing same stuff over and over I am not afraid of exploring outside known object formats and inventing completely new products. I enjoy the varying phases of design process: it's great to do tasks ranging from user insight gathering to building physical prototypes in workshop. I work fluently both as a group member and as solo designer.
I've earned my Master's Degree from Aalto University in Summer 2014. I did my major in Department of Industrial and Strategic Design. I complemented my studies with minors in Furniture Design and Interdisciplinary Product Development. My academic career also included some entrepreneurial studies, package design and artistic work.
